EXPLORATION UPDATE ON NEWCASTLE’S CARSCALLEN PROPERTY

VICTORIA, BC, June 3, 2010 – Newcastle Minerals Ltd. (TSXV:NCM) is pleased to announce that SGX Resources Inc. has completed a detailed soil sampling program on Newcastle’s Carscallen Property located in the West Timmins area of Ontario.

Samples were sent to SGS Minerals Services in Toronto for mobile metal ion (MMI) analysis of pathfinder elements.  This will allow SGX and Newcastle to prioritize the anomalous areas prior to the commencement of a second diamond drilling program.  This drilling program is expected to begin shortly after results of the MMI analysis are received.

The 120-hectare Carscallen Property is adjacent to Highway 101, 21 kilometres southwest of Timmins, Ontario.  It is surrounded by Lake Shore Gold Corp.’s Timmins West Gold Mine Complex, and lies east of Melkior Resources Inc.’s Carscallen property.

SGX has an option to purchase up to 75% of the Carscallen Property by making certain payments to Newcastle and completing $2.5 million of exploration over the next three years.
